The remains of employee Roy Weischlitz are found in the blast furnace slag of a steel mill in the tranquil city of Weimar where he worked. Inspectors Kira Dorn and Lessing quickly rule out suicide as the cause of death. Roy lived together with his sister Siegrid, who, as is established by the inspectors, hated her brother. Siegrid holds Roy responsible for the destruction of her life's happiness with her ex-fiancée Karsten aka Flamingo. It was Roy's fault that Karsten lost a leg and earned his nickname. Flamingo works at the mill and becomes a suspect, as well as his shady buddy Karsten, who has a criminal record of his own. When the inspectors learn that Franks girlfriend Irina lead Roy to believe he was the love of her life in order to get to his money, the events quickly pile up.

Only thanks to his cunning does he escape—and the Monet was only a copy anyway. During preventative care at the hospital, he overhears Police Chief Fellinger engaging in corrupt dealings. On 8 November 1939 a timebomb exploded in the Burgerbräukeller in Munich. This bomb was meant for Adolf Hitler but he left only 11 minutes before the explosion. The bomb-maker (Georg Elser, played by Fritz Hollenbeck) was arrested and the authorities couldn't believe that only this furniture maker was responsible for this attack.

An alien from the planet Antoria lands on Earth and is promptly assaulted by the porn producer Gerhard Hornbacher, who steals his "form changer".

The bothers Ken and Bent are separated when their parents are divorced, and grow up as very different persons, before they meet as grown ups. They help each other out, but some years later Bent disappears. Only his crashed Buick is found.
